About Mrs. Sanders
Welcome to fifth grade at Crestwood Elementary! I am so excited to share the adventures of fifth grade with you. We will work hard, and make many terrific memories as you finish your years here at Crestwood. I am enjoying my second year in fifth grade, having taught 2nd grade here at Crestwood for many years. I have taught 28 years, mostly in Rockford Public Schools. I graduated from Hope College in 1987 with a duo degree in General Education and Learning Disabilities. In 1992, I earned my Masters Degree from Western Michigan University in Early Childhood Education. I've taught in grades K-3 and 5th, including K-5 resource room. I've loved each grade I've taught and found last year that the fifth grade year is filled with remarkable opportunities for personal growth and teamwork as we work and learn together.
My family is extremely important to me and you will likely hear stories shared that we have talked about in class about them. We recently moved to my dream home- a log cabin in Sparta, MI. My husband Scott is an avid outdoorsman- he loves to fish and hunt, and he plays a lot of softball. Scott and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in October. Our children, Nate and Emily, are both young adults, and each is in college- Nate at Davenport and Emily at GRCC. We are the proud dog parents of Mandy (our black lab), Holli (our terrier), and Remi (our chocolate lab). In my spare time, I enjoy reading good books, catching a few home improvement shows on T.V. and spending time with our extended family.
I look forward to learning more about you and your family this year. Please feel free to contact me via my email address (there's a quick link on the contact tab above) or by school phone number, 863-6346, ext.3729.
Please know in advance that I will not be able to take your call while working directly with students, but you can leave me a voice mail. Communication between home and school is very important to me and I value your input. Please share your celebrations this year and let me know if there is some way that I can help clarify something related to our classroom activities.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sanders
